Fondaparinux is an oral anticoagulant inhibiting factor Xa, a critical protein in the blood coagulation cascade that causes the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. Anti-Xa assays are used to monitor the levels of drugs like fondaparinux. This assay is used to monitor anticoagulant therapy, ensure therapeutic levels, and minimize bleeding risks in cases of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or other clotting disorders.
