Acremonium kiliense, a type of saprophytic mold or fungus, can contaminate air, surfaces, and drinking water. Exposure to Acremonium has been specifically linked with a range of respiratory and cutaneous allergic symptoms, including allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonia, allergic alveolitis, and atopic dermatitis.
