Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the penicillin group, commonly used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory, gastrointestinal, or soft tissue infections. Ampicillin is capable of inducing type 1 hypersensitivity reactions. Drug sensitization occurs through oral administration and presents as urticaria, angioedema, rhinitis, bronchospasm, hypotension, and anaphylaxis. IgE evaluation helps healthcare professionals assess antibiotic allergies.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
