The latex allergy test is performed to assess sensitivity to the latex sap derived from the rubber tree. Latex allergy can clinically manifest as contact dermatitis, asthma, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis. The allergens responsible for eliciting allergic reactions are identified as Hev b1 and Hev b15. Healthcare professionals employ this test to determine the allergy status of individuals.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
