A basic metabolic panel (BMP) is a test that estimates eight distinct substances in blood. It provides crucial information about body’s chemical balance and metabolism. A BMP comprises tests for the following: Glucose, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Carbon dioxide, Chloride, and Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN). BMP is used to assess diverse body functions and processes, including renal function, fluid and electrolyte balance, blood sugar levels and so on.
