Oyster (Ostrea edulis) is a bivalve mollusk that can induce type 1 hypersensitivity reaction on exposure to food and occupational allergen. Oyster shell dust can act as inhalant allergen causing occupational asthma. Smoked oyster ingestion can lead to exercise induced anaphylaxis. This test detects specific IgE antibodies involved in causing such allergic reactions.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
