Body fluid culture is a sensitive microbiological test for diagnosing infections in body fluids. Body fluids commonly subjected for culture studies are peritoneal, ascitic, pleural, joint and other sterile body fluids. The test helps in isolating, identifying aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Subsequent antimicrobial susceptibility testing helps to study microorganism’s sensitivity towards spectrum of anti-microbial drugs and choosing right antimicrobial therapy.
