Screening of blood donor units is an essential transfusion service ensuring the safety of blood transfusions. Donor units collected are tested for transfusion-transmitted infectious. Screening assures infection and immunologically compatible safe blood to recipients.

Donor unit screen includes the following parameters:
Hepatitis BsAg, Hepatitis B Core Total Abs, Hepatitis C Ab, Syphilis TP Ab, HTLV I/II Abs and HIV Ag/Ab combo.
If any of the parameters (except Hepatitis B Core Total Abs) are positive, confirmatory tests will be performed at additional cost.
