Dr. Hong holds consultant physician licenses in clinical pathology from both Korea and the UAE, with over 15 years of experience across university hospitals, military medical centers, reference laboratories, and semi-governmental institutions. Before joining PureLab, he served as a clinical professor at Seoul National University Hospital and led the laboratory at Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital.​

He is a member of esteemed professional societies, including the Korean Society for Laboratory Medicine and Clinical Microbiology. His expertise lies in clinical and molecular microbiology, with strong interests in big data analytics and AI-driven healthcare solutions. Dr. Hong has authored numerous publications on topics such as Candida auris, SARS-CoV-2 screening, and antimicrobial resistance.​
