Description:

This test involves measurement of cortisol levels 60 minutes after administration of a synthetic form of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) to evaluate the response of the adrenal gland to release cortisol on synthetic stimulation. Abnormal levels may indicate adrenal dysfunction and aid health care providers in diagnosing conditions such as Addison’s disease.
