Individuals exposed to pet animals are known to develop pet dander allergies as they inhale tiny, airborne particles of pet dander. Dander particles can settle on surfaces and remain in the environment for extended periods, subjecting them to prolonged exposure. Sensitization is observed mostly in children and adolescents. Healthcare providers utilize this test to determine allergic status and guide allergen-specific immunotherapy.
