Apples contain allergenic proteins primarily from the Mal d1 group, which are capable of triggering type 1 hypersensitivity reactions and producing IgE antibodies against Mal d1. These antibodies stimulate the release of histamine and mediators, causing allergic symptoms such as dermatitis with itching, swelling, and anaphylaxis. Healthcare professionals utilize this test to determine allergic status and guide allergen-specific immunotherapy.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
