Melon fruit, particularly its peel and flesh are the sources of hypersensitivity and allergic reactions. It contains profilin, which is considered as a pan-allergen that can induce pollen-food allergy syndrome (PFAS) and oral allergy syndrome (OAS) as common presentations. This test detects specific IgE antibodies involved in triggering allergens causing allergic reactions.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
