Papaya (Carica papaya) are commonly used in making drinks, salads and sweets. Fruit pulp and papaya extracted components such as papain or chymopapain can induce IgE-mediated reactions causing symptoms of food allergy, atopic dermatitis or urticaria or angioedema in sensitized individuals. This test detects specific IgE antibodies involved in causing such allergic reactions.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
