IgE allergy, Penicillium notatum test detects serum IgE levels in patients sensitized with allergens of pencillium notatum, a commonly found heterophilic fungi that grows on bread, fruits and nuts. Allergens are commonly exposed on inhalation of spores leading to Type 1 hypersensitivity reactions commonly presenting as immediate and late asthma or antibiotic sensitivity reactions.
Important note: Minimum volume is 1 mL and 0.5 mL for every additional allergen.
