Von Willebrand Factor (vWF) is a glycoprotein that mediates adhesion of platelets to the site of vascular injury, protecting Factor VIII from degradation in the bloodstream and promoting platelet aggregation. Measuring vWF antigen levels is indicated to diagnose bleeding disorder and von Willebrand disease. Abnormal vWF levels can lead to bleeding tendencies. Testing helps in the accurate diagnosis and therapeutic management of bleeding disorders.
