Tobramycin Level

The tobramycin level test measures the concentration of tobramycin, an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. The test results help to ensure proper dosage and monitor therapeutic levels to prevent toxicity, which is especially crucial for individuals with compromised kidney function, ensuring effective treatment.

TIBC (Total iron binding capacity)

Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC) is a blood test that measures the blood’s capacity to bind with iron. High TIBC may indicate iron deficiency anemia, while low TIBC can suggest iron overload (hemochromatosis) or inflammation due to chronic disease. Doctors advise this test if the individual is suspected of having iron overload or iron deficiency.

Thyrotropin Receptor Antibody (A-TSH receptor)

The thyrotropin receptor antibody (TRAb) test measures the concentration of antibodies that can stimulate or block the action of thyroid-stimulating hormone. Elevated antibody levels indicate autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Graves’ disease or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. This test aids in diagnosing and monitoring thyroid disorders, guiding treatment decisions.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

The Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) blood test measures TSH concentration, regulating thyroid hormone production. Abnormal levels indicate thyroid dysfunction, like hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. High TSH levels suggest an underactive thyroid, while low levels indicate an overactive thyroid. Crucial for assessing thyroid function and guiding treatment decisions.

Thyroid Function Test

Thyroid function tests evaluate thyroid gland health, measuring TSH, T4, and T3 levels. TSH reflects pituitary feedback, while T4 and T3 assess thyroid hormone levels. Abnormal levels may indicate primary or secondary hypothyroidism or thyrotoxicosis, guiding the diagnosis and management of thyroid disorders.

Thyroglobulin

The thyroglobulin test measures blood levels of thyroglobulin, a thyroid-produced protein commonly used as a tumor marker for thyroid cancer. Elevated levels suggest thyroid cancer cells, but they can also indicate inflammation or benign thyroid disorders. This test is used with other thyroid function tests to assess thyroid health and post-treatment cancer monitoring.

Theophylline Level

The theophylline level tests measure the blood theophylline levels when prescribed as treatment for asthma or COPD. Maintaining its therapeutic range is critical to preventing side effects or inadequate treatment. Monitoring is vital due to the narrow therapeutic range, which is influenced by factors like age, liver function, and drug interactions.

Testosterone Level Total

The total testosterone level assesses both free and bound forms of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone. Low levels correlate with infertility, hair loss, and erectile dysfunction in men. Conversely, high levels in females may cause irregular periods and excessive body hair growth.

Tacrolimus Level

The tacrolimus level test measures the blood concentration of tacrolimus, an immunosuppressive medication prescribed to transplant patients. The test ensures therapeutic levels, preventing rejection and toxicity. Monitoring tacrolimus levels is crucial due to their narrow therapeutic range, which is influenced by factors like drug interactions, metabolism, and organ function.

T3 Free (Triiodothyronine Free)

Free T3 is a blood test that measures the concentration of unbound triiodothyronine hormone in the blood. Triiodothyronine is a thyroid hormone crucial for metabolism regulation and energy production. This test aids in diagnosing thyroid disorders such as hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, providing valuable insights into thyroid function.
